After nearly a decade of patience, precision, and care, we present Gran Reserva 904 2016: the culmination of a silent, meticulous endeavor. Time has left its mark, refining every nuance and polishing every detail. Today, that long wait turns into elegance: a wine that embodies the harmony between tradition and precision, between the strength of Tempranillo and the subtlety of Graciano, in a Gran Reserva of international acclaim and stature.
Since this vintage began to breathe in our cellars, the world has changed. We have witnessed historic milestones, technological and cultural advances, while in Haro, in the stillness of our winery, this Gran Reserva 904 followed its course, resting in American oak barrels and evolving patiently toward perfection. During that same time, our house has also taken bold steps toward innovation: the creation of our spiral vineyard, our commitment to sustainable viticulture, the development of pioneering traceability projects, and the opening of new spaces for wine lovers who visit us from all over the world.
Gran Reserva 904 2016 is the sum of it all: the time that has shaped it, the wisdom of the land, and the commitment of a winery that has turned Rioja classicism into a contemporary art. The 2016 vintage was magnificent. Moderate, well-distributed rainfall mitigated the effects of summer drought and heat, fostering optimal ripening. The result: grapes of unusual vibrancy and freshness, blended with the precision that only experience brings.
Crafted from Tempranillo (90%) sourced from our vineyards in Villalba, Briñas, and Rodezno, and Graciano (10%) from the historic Montecillo estate in Fuenmayor, the wine was aged for four years in American oak barrels with an average age of four years, undergoing eight traditional rackings before its final refinement in bottle.
Gran Reserva 904 2016 unveils a wide-ranging bouquet of fruit and balsamic notes. On the palate, it offers a perfect balance between freshness and maturity, with gentle tannins and a refined, long, and complex finish. A wine to enjoy today, but also to treasure as a legacy.
Barely released to the market, international critics have already ranked it among the greats: 97 points from James Suckling, and 96 points from Robert Parker, Tim Atkin MW, Pedro Ballesteros MW, and the Peñín Guide, reaffirming the universal prestige of this wine that has made time its greatest ally.
