The La Rioja Alta, S.A. winery group continues to promote revolutionary technological initiatives with the aim of ensuring the excellence of its wines so that consumers across more than 80 countries enjoy the highest quality.

Part of this effort is the recently-implemented R&D project that affects one of the most critical stages in terms of wine quality, transportation and storage after the bottles leave the winery. 

To do this, the technical teams of the Quality Department at La Rioja Alta, S.A. analyze the data emitted in real time by sensors installed in cases and boxes, allowing them to know the conditions of temperature, humidity, light and vibrations to which the bottles are exposed, as well as their location. Constant monitoring to offer security for consumers.

This innovative project joins the award-winning and innovative traceability project implemented by La Rioja Alta, S.A. in 2020. The system employs artificial vision, identifying and individually monitoring each and every stage, from grapevine planting to the delivery of the bottle to a client, distributor or importer, anywhere in the world. 

Now in place for close to three years, the initiative has amply demonstrated its clear benefits for the end consumer, with total control of the finished product and fraud protection, while it allows the winery to reorganize and optimize its complex winemaking and aging processes.
