La Rioja Alta, S.A., is fourth among the world's most admired wine brands in 2022. The Haro winery has achieved this extraordinary international position in its second consecutive appearance in the list ‘The World's Most Admired Wine Brands’, published for the last twelve years by Drinks International (UK) with the ranking of the 50 most prestigious wine companies in the world.
The Station District winery experienced the highest rise in the entire list, advanced 46 positions. In fact, this achievement earned it the ‘Highest Climber’ distinction. Other wineries in the Top 10 include, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Antinori, Château Margaux, Château Cheval Blanc, Vega Sicilia and Penfolds.
To compile this exclusive annual list, Drinks International polled hundreds of renowned wine specialists (Masters of Wine, writers, sommeliers, buyers, restaurant owners, educators, critics, etc.) to choose the five wineries around the world that they most admired, taking into account factors such as the quality of their wines, their consistency, the strength of their brand and their value for money.
Ángel Barrasa, CEO of La Rioja Alta, S.A. expressed “enormous satisfaction for this magnificent fourth position obtained in an outstanding list that includes the most prestigious houses in the world.” This great news is, in his opinion, “a recognition of the great work of the entire winery team, the historic commitment to the highest quality in all our wines, and the development of international brands with an outstanding personality.”
La Rioja Alta, S.A. winemaker Julio Sáenz said that this award rewards “relentless efforts to consistently make the best possible wines. This philosophy, an obsession in the house, allows us to work in the vineyard and in the winery with all the possible means at our disposal to achieve even better wines with each vintage.”
For his part, Stephane Desmarquest, Export Manager, said that “I am a privileged witness of the exceptional brand image of La Rioja Alta, S.A. in all the countries where I have the good fortune to travel. Our ambition is to continue to strengthen our distribution network and increase the presence of our wines in the best restaurants and speciality stores in the world.”
