After more than eight months of extensive renovations, Áster has just unveiled the remarkable spaces that now make up the new 'Casa Áster' in Anguix (Burgos), completely revolutionizing the wine tourism offerings of this Ribera del Duero winery, part of Grupo La Rioja Alta, S.A. With designs by Villalón Studio, the prestigious Madrid-based studio led by interior designer María Villalón, this transformation introduces a unique global concept for wine tourism in a setting among vineyards, where every corner and detail reflects elegance, timelessness, personality, and emotion.
The project highlights the creation of unique spaces designed for visitors’ maximum enjoyment, including new lounges, a tasting and meeting room, a private dining area, and a wine bar and store with large windows offering direct views of the barrel room. As María Villalón—also the designer behind the acclaimed Garaje del Club de Cosecheros for La Rioja Alta, S.A. in Haro—explains, "The new 'Casa Áster' is the home of a family deeply connected to the art of winemaking, situated in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Forged with the passion, expertise, and patience that wine demands, this project honors the essence of its surroundings. Each space radiates authenticity through its materials and the warmth of natural light, blending tradition and modernity to enhance the elegance and quality that define this project."
The design is inspired by "the unique and austere character of the region: gentle slopes, a challenging climate that refines grape ripening, and clay soils that lend strength and character. Every architectural detail harmonizes with the land, translating that connection into an interior design of great subtlety." It is an ideal setting to savor one of the three wines—Finca El Otero, El Espino, and Áster—that currently make up this Ribera del Duero winery’s catalog, under the technical direction of Miguel Muela since last year.
The new wine tourism offerings at Áster include a guided tour through the winery and vineyards, with a Premium option, a picnic among the vines, or a pairing meal crafted by the in-house culinary team and served in the new dining room with seating for 16 guests. Áster also offers the option to host business meetings, organized tastings, or enjoy wines by the glass with 'tapas', and even an unforgettable stay with family or friends in one of the five available guest rooms overlooking the various vineyards on the property.
