New Lindeiros 2021, The Essence of Terroir, Time, and Excellence in Rías Baixas

Lagar de Fornelos – our Rías Baixas winery – has announced the launch of its new wine, Lindeiros, and its first vintage from 2021. This exclusive production consists of 3,800 bottles from a selection of Albariño grapes from the Troviscoso estate in Cambados (Pontevedra), a trellised parcel of just 3.8 hectares acquired by Lagar de Fornelos due to its proximity to the Viña Deiro vineyard. Integrated within the vineyard, a state-of-the-art winemaking facility has also been established for the development of R&D projects.

Lindeiros 2021 is, in the words of Guillermo de Aranzabal, President of Grupo La Rioja Alta, S.A., “the result of many years of work and significant investments in Lagar de Fornelos, striving to achieve the highest qualitative potential in our vineyard. We have conducted extensive research and numerous trials to produce a premium white wine that showcases the essence of time in Rías Baixas and the exceptional quality of our vineyard.” The chosen name for this new wine is also “a well-deserved tribute to this land and the local tradition, where Albariño vines have historically been used almost exclusively to mark boundaries between estates.”

According to Ángel Suárez, Technical Director of Lagar de Fornelos, this new limited edition white wine “stands out particularly for its depth, complexity, saline character, and fleshy texture, as well as its remarkable aging potential.” These characteristics were acquired from a harvest that was “very Atlantic, with excellent acidity and a very Galician style,” and also from the “three types of containers we chose for both fermentation and aging” over twelve months, working with fine lees: a 600-liter egg-shaped concrete tank, 400-liter French oak barrels, and stainless steel tanks. The 99 points recently awarded to Lindeiros 2021 by the Proensa Guide 2024 affirm the extraordinary quality of this wine, which represents “a step forward in character, sophistication, and longevity.”

Aimed primarily at premium restaurants and collectors, the international debut of Lindeiros 2021 took place at an extraordinary venue: the International Congress of JRE - Jeunes Restaurateurs recently held in Paris. This brilliant unveiling, attended by chefs and sommeliers from 400 high-end European restaurants, collectively holding more than 150 Michelin Stars, received high praise for this unique Spanish white wine.

With Lindeiros, Lagar de Fornelos rounds out its established range, which has made it an international benchmark for Rías Baixas wines. This range includes the emblematic Lagar de Cervera and Pazo de Seoane, a typical wine from O Rosal (Pontevedra) that reflects the enological tradition of the region, both of which have just released their 2023 vintages.
