At Áster, we believe that wine is a way of discovering places, landscapes and different ways of expressing the same passion. That is why, together with our neighbours at Bodegas LA HORRA, we are presenting a new wine tourism experience that brings together two unique territories: “Ribera del Duero vs. Rioja: 2 regions and 4 wineries”.
This experience has been created to share the essence of two of Spain’s most important wine regions through a sensory journey that combines landscape, history, winemaking and gastronomy. It offers visitors the opportunity to discover and compare the unique character of Ribera del Duero and Rioja, two regions connected by the Tempranillo grape variety, yet with their own distinct identities shaped by their soils, climate and winemaking philosophy.
This initiative was born from our desire to share our vision of wine and to join forces with those who, like us, work with dedication and respect to express the identity of a territory. Just as it happens in Haro’s historic Barrio de la Estación, where several wineries share the same passion for excellence, here in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region we come together once again with our neighbours to offer a unique and enriching experience.
The journey begins at Bodegas LA HORRA, where visitors will discover its vineyards, its winemaking philosophy and the project that, since 2009, has sought to express the personality of the Burgos area of Ribera del Duero through its CORIMBO and CORIMBO I wines. The visit will continue through its new winery, recently inaugurated and designed by architect Carme Pinós, winner of Spain’s National Architecture Award.
Following this first approach to the territory, the experience continues with a comparative tasting that allows guests to discover the nuances and different expressions of Ribera del Duero and Rioja. A dialogue between wines that reveals how the same grape variety can develop different profiles when shaped by distinct landscapes and wine cultures.
Through a walk across the natural surroundings that connect both wineries, visitors will arrive at Áster, where the day will conclude with a tour of our winery and a gastronomic experience paired with a selection of wines representing both projects.
For us, opening the doors of Áster means sharing much more than our wines: it means showing our way of understanding Ribera del Duero, our history and our commitment to quality, which defines every bottle we produce.
“Ribera del Duero vs. Rioja: 2 regions and 4 wineries” is an invitation to discover wine from a broader perspective, to understand how landscapes become identity, and to enjoy two essential Spanish wine regions through a truly unique experience.
