The only group with all its wineries scoring 99 or 100 points
The Proensa Guide 2025, a leading publication by journalist Andrés Proensa evaluating 732 wines from 244 wineries, has placed Grupo La Rioja Alta, S.A. at the pinnacle of Spanish winemaking. It stands as the only group in Spain to have all its wineries—La Rioja Alta, S.A., Torre de Oña, Áster, and Lagar de Fornelos—reach excellence.
Torre de Oña’s El Camino 2021 (Rioja Alavesa) scored 100 points for its debut vintage, crafted from century-old bush vines rescued from abandonment. Proensa celebrates its “explosive debut” for its pure Rioja Alavesa character. This wine also received 100 points from Vivir el Vino and the International VID Award for its innovative label featuring a vine shoot from its vineyard.
Scoring 99 points are Gran Reserva 904 ‘Selección Especial’ 2015 from La Rioja Alta, S.A., Finca El Otero 2021 from Áster (Ribera del Duero), and Lindeiros 2021, a premium white wine from Lagar de Fornelos (Rías Baixas). Proensa praises Lindeiros for its “elegance, complexity, and expressiveness.”
These exceptional scores, achieved across diverse regions, varieties, and styles, are a testament to the Group’s dedication and strategic investment in crafting world-class wines.
